FAQ
Questions people usually ask.
Straight answers, no jargon. If yours isn't here, just ask. There's no such thing as a daft question about websites.
Still not sure?
Ask me anything.
Send a message or give me a call. Asking costs nothing.
Is the example site really free?
Yes. I build an example of your website for free, with no obligation. If you like it and want to go ahead, the full website is a one-off payment, from £299, at a fixed price we agree first. No contract, and the website is yours. If you don't, you owe nothing and I won't chase you.
To be clear: the example is free, but the finished website isn't.
Do we need to meet?
No. Everything is done by phone, email, WhatsApp or video call, whichever you prefer. I send you a link so you can see your website on your own phone or computer, and you tell me what to change by message. Most people find it quicker and easier than a meeting.
I'm not very good with computers. Is that a problem?
Not at all. If you can send a text or a WhatsApp message, you can do this. I handle all the technical side and explain anything you need to know in plain English.
How long does it take?
The free example usually takes a few days. Once you're happy to go ahead, a Starter site takes 1 week and a Standard site 2 weeks. The clock starts when I have your details and photos, so the quicker you send them, the quicker it's live.
What do I need to send you?
To start, just tell me about your business: what you do, where you work and who your customers are. After that, it helps to have:
- Your logo, if you have one (if not, I'll use your business name in a clean style)
- Some photos of your work, your premises or your products. Phone photos are fine
- Your contact details and opening hours
- Any reviews you already have, for example on Google or Facebook
Don't worry about writing the words. Tell me in your own way and I'll write it up properly.
How much does it cost?
Websites start from £299 for a one-page site and £499 for up to five pages. Bigger projects are quoted individually. Every price is a one-off payment, fixed and agreed before I start. You'll also need a domain name (your web address), which usually costs around £10 to £15 a year. See the pricing page for everything that's included.
Is there a contract or a monthly fee?
No contract, and no monthly fee you have to pay. The website is a one-off payment. There's nothing to sign, no tie-in and no minimum term. I simply confirm the price and what's included in writing before I start.
The only regular cost you'll definitely have is your domain name (your web address), usually around £10 to £15 a year. The care plan is completely optional. If you choose it, you can cancel any time and your website stays yours.
How do I pay?
It's a single, one-off payment by bank transfer or PayPal, once you're happy with your website and before it goes live.
Who owns the website?
You do, outright. Your domain name is registered in your name, and once the website is paid for, it's yours to keep. No contract, no tie-in, no ongoing fee to keep it. If you ever want to move it somewhere else, I'll help you do that. You're never locked in.
What happens after it's live?
You've got two options. With the optional care plan (£25/month), I look after hosting, make as many small changes as you need (within reason!) and keep an eye on everything. Without it, I'll talk you through the hosting options and set up whichever suits you best, in your name, and any changes later are £10 each.
Either way, you can always get hold of me.
Will people find me on Google?
Every site is set up properly so Google can find it and understand what you do and where. Nobody can honestly promise you'll be top of Google, and I won't. What helps most for small businesses is a free Google Business Profile with good reviews, and I can help you set that up and link it to your website.
Will it work on phones?
Yes. Most of your customers will probably find you on their phone, so I design for phones first and then make sure it looks right on tablets and computers too.
I already have a website. Can you help?
Yes. If your current site is out of date, slow or hard to use on a phone, I can build you a new one. I'll make you a free example first so you can compare. If you're keeping the same web address, I'll handle the switch-over.

If you go ahead, it's a one-off payment from £299, with no contract, and the site is yours. Nothing to pay if you don't.
